ESSEX BIKE SAFE, BURNHAM ON CROUCH.
SUNDAY 25TH APRIL 2010

The weather started off overcast with some drizzle. As the day wore on so the sun came out and the weather turned out nice and hot.

4 members left from the club for the ride to Burnham On Crouch, Graham, Ken, Phil & Andreas. I meet the 4 on route at the junction of the A12 and the A414 at Chelmsford, I had just come off a night shift and had grabbed a couple of hours sleep before hand. During my ride from home to Burnham the rain held off.

The ride to Burnham went well. The roads were damp and in some areas we had to avoid dung and mud on the road. No incidents on the way.

As we were getting close to Burnham we were passing quite a few bikes going in the other direction. Graham and I were beginning to think the event might have been called off for some reason.
It turned out the event was still on, these were obviously bikers out for a ride. Burnham seems to be a popular ride out for bikers.

As we were coming up to Millfields, where the show was, we saw Kevin and his partner sitting on a wall. They had ridden there with a friend.

We parked up at the show. The first port of call was the burger bar for a cup of tea/coffee and a cheese burger, it was lunchtime.
Lee then met up with us at the burger bar. We finished our lunch and started to walk around the event.

The event had quite a few stalls and the show was attended quite well.

We got round to the Kawasaki stall and was looking at the bikes when it started to drizzle. It only lasted about 5 minutes. We took advantage of their stall/tent for shelter.
It was here that Andreas tried out for size a trials bike that he thought was his size. He certainly could get both feet flat on the ground whilst sitting on the bike.

We stopped and had a chat with the Essex Goldwing club. They meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Rising Sun pub in Billericay.
They had 4 Goldwings on show and gladly showed us around them and allowed us to sit on them. They are a friendly bunch, as in the true tradition of a Honda owner.
I extended an invitation for them to come and visit us on one of our club nights and they gladly accepted. They stated it would be a good run out for them.
So watch out for them coming to our club and please make them welcome.

We came across three bikers wearing white body armour. I thought they had gone OTT with the armour.

The sun had been beaming down after the little drizzle we had earlier and everything was drying out nicely.
We took advantage of the nice weather to sit on the prom where I asked a lady nearby to take a group photo.

We then had another coffee and a chat about the day before we departed the show at 4pm.

The roads were dry on the run home. People peeled off where necessary on the way back.
Another great day out for the members of the NLHOC.

Cheers.

Roland.
